Fresh Idea, Elegant design, Fantsatic user experience…
Does it sell cars – I’m not so sure, but it sure as hell enhances Audi’s brand personality. The user is left with the warm feeling of a positive online experience – and not a car in sight.
Audi clearly realize that if users want to see a picture of an Audi they can go to any number of online postings of Audi cars. If Audi are going to communicate effectively online they have to let users experience what its like to drive an Audi – and I think they do this on this site – in a roundabout way.

3 great websites other people have sent me – all 3 give users, a great experience, in various different ways.
First up – fantastic flash site – this gets me buzzing – passed on to me by Des (Take a bow) – the feeling you get through the mouse is simply the best
try drugs
Second link – was shown to me by Martin, its great fun – not clicking – it really pushes users to change their habit
don’t click
Last but not least – yes its been around for a while but still worth a look – its a simple idea well executed

It struck me today – when I received the first personal email in over a month that all of my personal communication was happening via my work email, Facebook and on my mobile (Via chat and SMS).
In fact I haven’t written a personal email in months from my hotmail account. Maybe I’m late catching on to this idea – I’ve read the reviews about how the demographic is different on Facebook than MySpace, how long people are spending on social networking sites, the effect these sites are having on the English language in general etc etc…
But personal email is being killed – mine only fills up with notifications from Bebo, Facebook, Linked In and marketing newsletters. So why have one anymore? I’m already being marketed to on Facebook…
The ironic thing is that to sign up to Facebook you have to have an email address – but if they are becoming redundant – why are they mandatory. Why are Facebook and Myspace insisting on them at registration? They can market to users in their own space. Why isn’t a mobile number sufficient?
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying, it’s the death of email in general. I still use my work one all the time – and couldn’t work without email – but for me its only a matter of time before I have a work network to communicate with my clients and suppliers on – reducing the dependency on email.
I’d love to know other people’s views on this? Do other people still use their Hotmail, Google mail or whatever personal email client they have anymore?

So to Easter island itself – it is hard to separate the islanders from the island, being so far from anywhere the two are vastly intertwined. And have been through out the ages.
For a island so small and so far removed from anywhere there is a lot to do. We started on our first day with a hike up to and around the rim of the volcano – Rana Kao. The landscape of Easter Island is extremely like the west of Ireland – windswept but with Palm Trees. The volcano is behind the extraordinarily long run way – which Nasa pay for as its a back up landing spot if their shuttles miss Florida – not sure how they would get the shuttle back!!!
From the top corner of the volcano you can see the two little rocks which are home to the nesting birds that were so central to the birdman cult that played a large part in the islands history. From there we marched up to the old ruins of their (the birdman cult) house – which look like and are built in the same fashion as the bee hive huts in Kerry.
